Recommendations:
Franky can go just about anywhere you can dream of. Local to Austin there are many great spots to visit such as Emma Long Park on Lake Austin or Pace Bend Park on the scenic shorelines of Lake Travis. Franky is also a great experience for a first timer in a backyard, approved driveway or the nearby Texas hill country. A little farther out is one of our all time favorites: Padre National Seashore which is a few hours away on the Gulf of Mexico. With miles and miles of beach to camp on, great for disconnecting, spending time on the water, and fishing! Even further out Big Bend National Park is amazing and a worthwhile adventure for any Texan or visitor alike. While local spots are our favorites to frequent, Franky has been all over the country! If you take Franky somewhere new feel free to grab a sticker for his door!
Other things to note:
We're happy to coordinate different aspects of the trip to make things as low lift as possible. For example, we offer drop-off and set up at select locations for guests- a great option for first timers who just want to show up and relax. Those who choose to take Franky farther out on the road will need to have experience towing and a vehicle capable of pulling it which includes having a trailer breaking system. Franky is arguably the easiest of the Airstream line to tow but some experience and comfort is needed for a happy and safe trip. We are more than happy to answer any questions!
Q&A:
Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.Take it step by step and follow the thorough checklists we provide. We will make ourselves available to literally walk you through all the need-to-know information before your getaway.
Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.We will do our best to work with renters to coordinate pickup and drop off to make things as low lift as possible. We understand that things happen, so we will work with and around those issues. Ideally we will ask that pickup and drop-off happen during the afternoons, but every pickup and drop off will be a conversation during the booking process!
Q.When is it too cold or hot to rent?
A.Franky is built well with things to keep things hot or cold when it's the opposite outside. We recommend that you don't venture out when nights are falling much below freezing or when temps are very hot out without shore power. Franky has awesome natural ventilation to keep air fresh inside. Central air means AC or hot air via the propane furnace. Please keep in mind the AC does need shore power to operate. We've spend cold nights in the Utah mountains and hot nights on the beach without issue!
Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.Franky is a boondocking dream meaning you won't need to hookup to use the electric, bathroom, etc. Freshwater and blackwater tanks mean sink, shower, and toilet can be used everywhere. Hooking into shore power, city water and sewage does have its perks. Using the AC will quickly kill the batteries so it's not recommended on solar. The traditional power ports and microwave will only work while on shore power due to demand. There are USB ports which work regardless and are perfect for charging!
Q.I'm not comfortable towing, what should I do?
A.Franky is always available for delivery, distance and timeline dependent. If you'd like to see if something can be worked out just ask! I am to be as accommodating as possible.
Q.Can Franky be used at non-RV sites?
A.Franky is fully boondock capable meaning you can really use it anywhere. Franky is also great for backyard camping, driveway parking, and boosting your homes guest space!
